Lisa Miller Bio
Lisa Miller of Colorado, USA is a singer/songwriter, voice instructor, and owner of Songbird Publications. Lisa began writing poetry and music as a young child, and played coffee houses during her teen and university years. She has since performed in concerts as a soloist and guest artist with bands, ensembles and choirs in various venues including clubs, churches, benefits and community events in the metropolitan areas of Denver, Atlanta, Richmond and Washington, DC. Lisa has performed for Virginia Commonwealth University, Volunteers of America, Lakewood Arts Council, Foothills Music Teachers in Concert, Defenders of Wildlife, Bessie's Hope and as a guest artist for Aster Women's Chamber Choir.
Lisa has a passion for collaborating with other musicians, dancers, poets, artists and speakers. At one such recent event, she and her daughter, Lela, sang and played a variety of instruments at a labyrinth site for World Labyrinth Day. "The setting was very beautiful with the labyrinth surrounded with flowers in a candle-lit room. We sang and played our hearts while people walked the labyrinth. Sometimes someone would stop and face toward the stage to acknowledge and share in the music and then go back to walking. There was a true sense of community and yet still room for individual experience. I loved it! "

"World of Love", Lisa's full-length CD of original acoustic music, was released November 2006. It presents thirteen songs, all on the subject of love, and features a variety of flavors, instruments and moods. She is joined by a group of first-rate musicians. "I am so excited to finally be able to share these songs through another medium. Although I prefer the living quality of performances, it is also so wonderful when someone says, 'I listen to your CD on the way to work and when I travel'  or 'I like to play your CD for friends when they visit'. It gives people another opportunity to have music in their lives. I really appreciate the conversation and communication that can emerge through the arts, both live and recorded. My intention is to write and produce music that uplifts and unifies people. When I see and hear people responding to the music, my work feels worthwhile."

Lisa is a member of Music Teachers National Association and has served as an officer for Foothills Music Teachers Association, adjudicated for Colorado State Music Teachers District auditions and Pre-Collegiate auditions and presented at the Colorado State Music Teachers Asssociation convention. She is certified* in voice and flute and currently teaches voice and music theory. She has had student winners at National Federation of Music Clubs in Colorado, National Association of Teachers of Singing in Colorado and Colorado State Music Teachers Association auditions. Her students have performed for musical theatre productions and recorded their own CDs. Some students simply want to study music for personal enjoyment, which is an equally important goal. "To me, they are all winners because they have the gift of music. My main goal is to help people keep music in their lives."
